What to look out for when shopping the high street. Check out my finds in M&S and go watch the video! And here are the 6 questions to ask yourself when you buy from the high street.1. Am I saying ‘it’ll do’, if so walk away.2. Does it get me excited, bring something new or elevated to my wardrobe?3. Would I pay twice the price for it?4. Do I feel amazed that I am buying it from here and not a more expensive store?5. When I put it on do I hold my head up high and feel proud to wear it or is there a niggling feeling that I could do better?6. How does it feel against my skin?To shop my picks visit this board https://lnkd.in/eRaaPnU8

Andy Clarke - CEO ASDA60 Second ShootsTotal journey time 7 hours. Total time away 12 hoursASDA HQ is busy, there’s a lot going on. Big atrium. It was busy in the photographic sense too. What with all the stalls, food venues, break out areas and palm fronds there was no where on the ground floor for a clean cover shoot. As with most impressive atriums, the views are up, not level where your subject is and I don’t usually shoot up the nose. But up that escalator I could see some dappled sunlight falling on a small section of ASDA green wall. That was my spot. I quickly set up some gear and did come mental calculations about how the light would fall on a human. Would it be too harsh? How tall was the CEO? Would the sun move before he arrived? I didn’t have to wait too long. Suddenly Andy Clarke appears with staff; PR, PA, a couple of other people. He walks right up to me with and with a firm friendly handshake says, “Its very nice to meet you. I do apologise, there is nothing I can do about it but I literally have 60 seconds.” He looks at his watch, “And your time starts now!” There is a certain skill or self awareness which allows you to calmly and patiently direct a sitter while inwardly your brain is screaming “Hurry up you eejit!! (to myself not the sitter)” You sense the clouds moving serenely across the sun and the second hand moving like and unstoppable oil tanker toward an ultimate conclusion. Oil tankers actually move quite fast btw - we nearly got run over by one off the Western Australian coast once. But I digress. We got there. On the dot. And he was gone. I looked at my watch and wondered where I should get lunch while I waited for my train in two hours.#corporateportrait #editorialportrait #businessportrait #asda #availablelightportrait #cbi #influentialportraits

I started in retail at 18 years old- now turning 35I spent almost 14 years at Walmart, moving up the ladder. Never once interviewed for a job up the climb. The challenge of working and planning such a complex company was exciting and rewarding. Never did I see myself leaving Walmart but life happens.Joining Ollies as a Store manager after needing to relocate back to Pa and again tried to climb the ladder. An Ollies Store Manager their mission is simple and clear. Plan your manifest, make room for the freight, crush it in 2 days, easy lets roll. I grew bored and moved over to District LP. Covering four states worth of stores and endless travel, this became clear I should of stayed running a store. Me sitting still and searching for internals was not my thing.Petco Store Manager- before training was over it knew it wasn’t for me. Took a jump based on the pay specifically. I knew this was not for me. As an animal lover the idea of being over animals sounded great, till you as the gm are the one cleaning the cages. Very limited hours due to volume size, with a stock price hovering under $2.00Gabes Store Manager- Great bigger box than Ollies so time to roll again. More money so lets make the jump again. Five trucks a week, perfect lets plan some freight. If only it was that simple. Inconsistency with processes would be an understatement.I’m not sure if retail management is getting stale, or once you work for the giants of the world everything else seems less rewarding. Retail and retail management is surely changing.

Every year at the end of the Summer the same thing happens and we are somehow repeatedly astonished! Summer ticks along quite nicely, we have a great core of businesses that we are always working with and have projects which sustains us through the Summer. That is a lovely thing, to think that we have come to a place where we have retained relationships which keeps the ship afloat. We are very grateful for that! But...the end of the Summer comes and we go absolutely gangbusters! The businesses that we were with over the Summer fire in projects from every angle, new business and new brands seem to come alive and request assistance, the range of categories becomes incredibly wide and co-manufacturers are more open to new business opportunities. I guess that it is in part due to trying to get ready for Summer ranging for the following year, but certainly not all! Whatever it is....it is welcome and now we have written about it, we shouldn't be so surprised in the future! Right?#retail#innovation#branding#marketing#brand #customerexperience#cheflife#foodmanufacturing#foodbusiness #foodmanufacture#retailers#brands#grocery#fmcg#packaging #foodinnovation#npd

My first post-college job was in retail management for Macy's. So far past, it's not even on my LinkedIn page! It was a tough job with tough customers (New Jersey!) and it taught me so much. Check out these stories of two professionals whose first jobs were in retail. You’ll see why your retail experience can help you land your next job. 👇#CareerCompass #FidelityAssociate
