RuneScape 3 is nostalgic for many players familiar to the MMO genre. One of its best features is the amount of different character costume options, and the incredible amount of different pets players can collect. Though pets offer no combat bonuses and cannot offer any aid in battle, they are still well-designed by Jagex!
Skilling pets are special pets that allow players to show off their prestige and are obtained while training. There are currently 28 skilling pets in total, one for each skill RuneScape 3. Like in Pokémon, players can collect all of these pets to earn the "Jack of All Trades" title to show off to other players. This list has ranked all of RuneScape's skilling pets by their appearance and details on how to obtain them.

Players should note that skilling pets are awarded randomly. All 28 pets are divided into two groups; either time-based or experience-based. The drop formula for time-based skills is based on how long it takes to complete an action in-game: Agility, Divination, Firemaking, Fishing, Hunter, Mining, Thieving, and Woodcutting.
Experience-based skills are Archaeology, Attack, Constitution, Construction, Cooking, Crafting, Defence, Dungeoneering, Farming, Fletching, Heblore, Invention, Magic, Prayer, Ranged, Runecrafting, Slayer, Smithing, Strength, and Summoning. The higher the amount of experience gained at once in a skill, the higher the chance of obtaining that specific skilling pet.
28 Rocky

Rocky is the Mining skill pet, a pun on the adjective rocky. He can be unlocked by mining ores, rune essence, Serenstones, granite, falling stars, and more.
His examine text reads, “Don’t worry, he’s used to people looking at him in ore,” a word pun referring to looking at someone in awe.
27 Woody

Woody is the Woodcutting skilling pet. He can be unlocked when cutting trees (including bamboo and crystal), ivy locations, splitting logs, or training Woodcutting at the Clan Citadel.
His examine text references Pinocchio, as it reads, “It doesn’t look like he has said a lie in his life.”
26 Smithy

Smithy can be unlocked by training Smithing through smelting bars/corrupted ore, smithing metal bars, and casting the Superheat item magic spell.
Players should note that smithing Protean bars do NOT provide a chance to unlock Smithy.
25 Gemi

Gemi is the Crafting pet obtainable via various Crafting methods. Players can unlock her by creating jewelry, leather, glassblowing, or capping at a clan citadel loom.
The word Gemi is Indonesian in origin, meaning “modest lifestyle,” ironic considering she is a walking gemstone.
24 Bernie

Bernie is obtainable from training the Firemaking skill. All standard Firemaking methods have a chance of dropping Bernie. Burning Protean logs, however, cannot be used to obtain Bernie.

Bernie looks like an on-fire version of Woody. Upon becoming self-aware that he is on fire, Bernie’s animation will change to him frantically running with his arms up in the arm.
23 Ace

Ace is the Hunter skilling pet. He can be obtained by training Hunter in different ways, including Box trapping, Tortle trapping, and more.
His name refers to the nickname given to aviators credited with defeating enemies in aerial combat, hence his eagle appearance.
22 Malcolm

Malcolm is the Invention pet, resembling a clockwork firefly. He can be found by training Invention via disassembly, siphoning, manufacturing items, or creating gizmos.
While summoned, Malcolm blinks in Morse Code, translating to “Existence is pain,” which references Homestuck character Serenity who is also a firefly.
21 Dojo Mojo

Dojo Mojo is the Agility pet. He is earned through training the Agility skill at different Agility Courses around Gielinor. Using silverhawk boots to train Agility passively does not give a chance to obtain Dojo Mojo.
His character design and name reference the main villain in The Powerpuff Girls, Mojo Jojo.
20 Gordie

Gordie is the Dungeoneering pet. He is obtained by gaining Dungeeonering experience through completing dungeon floors and elite dungeons.
His examine text reads, “Forever a noob.”
19 Wallace

Wallace is the Defence Combat pet obtained from training Defence skill during combat. He is a grenwall with a helmet and a shield, representing the icon for the Defence skill.
18 Ramsay

Ramsay is the Cooking skilling pet, unlocked through cooking food or brewing ales.

His name is a reference to British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. His dialogue references the “Idiot Sandwich” meme, adding some much-needed humor to the game.
17 Ralph

Ralph is the Thieving skill pet. Players can participate in petty crimes like pickpocketing, safecracking, and Pyramid Plunder to have a chance to unlock him.
Ralph is a raccoon, as they are often known as thieving bandits in real life.
16 Brains

Brains is the Farming skilling pet, unlocked by planting seeds, harvesting produce, and training at the Player-Owned-Farm.
His name and physical appearance are references to the scarecrow in The Wizard Of Oz. He also hops along behind the players when summoned.
15 Sparky

Sparky is the Ranged combat pet earned from training Ranged in Combat. His visual appearance is a squirrel holding a crossbow and seems loosely based on Robin Hood.
14 Crabbe

Crabbe is the Slayer skilling pet, resembling a commonly-assigned Slayer task monster, the gargoyle.
Crabbe can be obtained by training the Slayer skill by completing Slayer or Soul Reaper assignments. His name is also a reference to Crabbe and Goyle from Harry Potter.
13 Kangali

Kangali is the Strength pet, earned by training the Strength skill during in combat.

The name Kangali is derivative of Kangaroo and a subtle reference to Mohammed Ali, a professional boxer, hence the boxing gloves Kangali wears.
12 Bubbles

Bubbles is the Fishing skilling pet, unlocked by training at normal and Barbarian fishing hotspots all around Gielinor. Bubbles resembles the divine rocktail bubble, and the pet’s name is the same as a character in the Pixar movieFinding Nemo.
11 Baby Yaga’s House

Baby Yaga's House is the Construction Pet. It is unlocked through furniture construction hotspots and flatpacks. The aesthetic design refers to the legend of Baba Yaga’s house, which has chicken legs.
10 Sifu

Sifu is the Attack skilling pet unlocked by earning Attack experience. Combat dummies do not give a chance to unlock Sifu.
He resembles the traditional Chinese dragon and looks similar to Mushu from the Disney film Mulan. His red and yellow coloring is based on the Attack Mastery skillcape.
9 Ghostly

Ghostly is the Prayer combat pet. By training the Prayer skill, players have a small chance of being rewarded with Ghostly. They can do this by burning bones and scattering ashes.
