1997 Rover Mini Cooper Sportspack 1.3 MPI - £11,000 of Recent Race & Rally Modifications - Genuine Low Mileage - Zero Rust - Unique Original Nardo Grey x All Carbon - The Ultimate Specification

This is a beautifully restored, very low genuine mileage, matching numbers and rust free example of the the ultimate specification of classic Mini, finished in what is likely the rarest factory colour scheme against a new interior with genuine carbon features throughout (including a carbon roof).

Plus, she benefits from over £11,000 of recent mechanical upgrades (dream stuff). She is supplied with 12 months MOT and no advisories, a HPI clear report and a full engine service, ready for you to drive away.

1. The Ultimate Specification

Being the ultimate specification, you have significantly more power, more reliability, modern safety features (opposed to no safety) and you will be more comfortable and have better fuel efficiency. She takes this a step further with a KAD rear disc brake conversion and Mini Sport upgraded front brakes, Gaz Adjustable Coil Overs etc etc (£11,000 of extras recently purchased).

2. Completely Rust Free

Being completely rust free throughout with new frames, you don’t have to worry about rust.

3. Genuine Low Mileage

Having covered just 40,000 warranted miles from new, you can have peace of mind.

4. The Rarest Colour Scheme

Uniquely finished in Nardo grey by the factory, you have a unique vehicle. Early documents confirm this, albeit I have never encountered or heard of another in Nardo Grey or Rover offering custom colours except to VIP’s or marketing (lady first keeper).

5. Beautiful Unique Interior

Finished with uniquely recovered seats, a carbon dash, dash rails and door fitments surrounding a modern, high end in car sat Android sat nav, video and music system, you will feel very comfortable inside.

6. £11,000 of Recent Upgrades

Having a dream aftermarket specification, she's so much fun to drive. Extraordinary amounts of money have been invested in her to make her lighter, faster and to have increased stopping power (set out below).

7. Terrific and/Or Terrifying to Drive

Combining raw power with minimal weight and that iconic, rally winning classic Mini handling, she is terrific and/or terrifying to drive.

8. Ready to Drive Away

She comes with 12 months MOT & no advisories, a HPI clear certificate and a full engine service, for your peace of mind.

Below I have set out her upgrade list before going on to discuss why this was the ultimate model, her paper milage history verifying her low mileage and then I have provided a condition report.

9. Exceptional Condition

She is completely rust free and most parts are recently new, inside and out. Her specification is incredible. My only points would be a standard small oil leak (almost a standard feature for classic Mini’s due to their engineering) and you will hear a sound on second gear if you change in when driving too quickly (again, very common synchro wear for this model).

Upgrades

Classic Mini’s combine raw power with a minimal weight and a terrifying lack of stopping power, so her previous custodian decided to invest over £11,000 on competition level, dream upgrades to make her lighter and therefore faster whilst fixing the lack of stopping power which afflicts 9/10 Mini’s. Upgrades included:

(a) KAD rear aluminium disc brake conversion, replacing the ineffective historic grade standard steel rear drum brakes to significantly improve stopping power and reduce weight;

(b) Mini Sport 4pot 8.4 Inch Aluminium front calliper conversion, replacing the less effective heavier steel standard callipers. Between these and the above, stopping power is significantly increased, brake fade reduced and weight is reduced by almost 10kg, albeit these costing £1400 with the above for the parts alone;

(c) GAZ rear beam conversion, opposed to the super heavy standard rear subframe. This possibly reduces her weight by a further 20-30kg on the rear end, providing much better handling (£350);

(d) KAD alloy Mini rear radius competition swing arms, these are designed for the most arduous competition use and further reduce weight by 10kg (plus cost £700 alone);

(e) GAZ coil overs all round, opposed to the standard shock absorbers. These improve her handling and allow you to fine tune and play with her suspension settings (£500+);

(f) Mini Sport adjustable tie rods and Mini Sport 1.5 degree negative camber front arms , improving road grip (£200);

(g) New front subframe so that you do not have to worry about rust and a sump guard to protect the bottom of the engine (and catch oil leaks woo) (£500);

(h) Upgraded to carbon features throughout. The roof cost £850, £900 for the dash and rails then the door scoops, arches, door fascias etc.

(i) K&N Air Filter Induction Kit increasing power (£150)

(j) Removable front end conversion for easy mechanical access. This is an expensive steel front end, rather than the cheap fibreglass standard. The bonnet is secured with Demon Tweaks Race/Rally pins, the wings are pop riveted. Honestly, this is great for working on her but the catches are annoying and fiddly, I fitted four new ones for you but they are no less fiddly.

(k) Performance exhaust (Superflow I think), for better gas flow, more power and that soulful classic roar.

(l) Super Lite Deep Dish polished 13x7 alloy wheels, these are 1 inch wider than standard giving you better grip and stance.

(m) Android super modern in car dash mounted Sat Nav system with music controls, bluetooth, Youtube etc etc.

(n) Whilst her six digit registration is included, this isn’t an upgrade and is factory original.

(o) Four rally spotlights, plus Halo headlights for absolute lighting, plus clear rear lenses.

(p) A full size boot aluminium petrol tank capable of holding a lot of fuel, also equalising weight distribution. This makes her a little tricky to top up.

(q) Multiple extra engine stabilising bars for the ultimate stability.
